National Flag
South Africa adopted a multicoloured flag on the 27th of April 1994 at the beginning of the 1994 election to replace the flag that had been used since 1928. A green Y with a white border on it's side. The space on the right side of the Y is red and the left side is blue and a black triangle on top of the Y with a yellow border. The black, green and yellow colours of the flag represent the African National Congress (ANC). The ANC is South Africa's biggest political party. The Y in the flag also means the unity of South Africa in 1994. The flag itself is a symbol of freedom and democracy.
